Economic Development

St. Tammany Parish is the fastest-growing parish in Louisiana and one of the fastest growing communities in the nation.  According to the publication, Louisiana Moving Forward, St. Tammany Parish is the 'economic engine driving regional recovery' for the New Orleans region and the State of Louisiana.

Mandeville is on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain.  26 miles from the City of New Orleans and its southshore suburbs, transportation accessibility (U.S. Interstates 10, 12 and 59) low business costs, available labor, superior education and blue ribbon schools, a low crime rate, and first rate medical facilities contributed to the city being named one of the Relocate America Top 100 Places to and #1 Best City in the state to Raise Children by Bloomberg Business Week in 2013.

Cultural Districts

Old Mandeville Cultural District: Local governments are allowed to designate a Cultural District for the purpose of revitalizing a community by creating a hub of cultural activity. Income and corporate franchise tax credits are permitted for eligible expenses for rehabilitation of owner-occupied or revenue generating historic structures in a Cultural District. Exemptions are provided from sales and use taxes for proceeds received from the sale of original, one-of-a-kind works of art from locations established within the Cultural District.

Business and home owners in the Old Mandeville Cultural District may be eligible for tax credits on business and home renovations caused by Hurricane Isaac.
