Mandeville Public Works Watershed Festival 2014 - Saturday, September 20, 2014

On Saturday, September 20, 2014, Mandeville Public Works’ Environmental Interpretive Program will hold a Watershed Festival for children from 10:30-12:30 at the Gazebo on the Lakefront in Mandeville. This annual event is being held in conjunction with the Keep Mandeville Beautiful Clean-up Day.

There will be exhibits and hands-on activities for children of all ages. Milliken Farms Wildlife Control will be on hand to show local wildlife.  Get a close-up look at birds of prey with Sally Farrell of Wind in My Feathers. Examine interesting and unusual bugs from the Audubon Bugmobile and bring a few of your own for help in identification.

Also, on hand will be the LSU Ag Center educator with cypress seeds for planting, and a master gardener will share her butterfly gardening exhibit.  St. Tammany Mosquito Abatement will have mosquito larvae for children to view and helpful information about mosquito control at your homes. In addition, educators from Fairview-Riverside and Fontainebleau State Parks will be there with pelts, skulls and scat to investigate.  Volunteers will provide hands-on activities designed to teach appreciation and stewardship of our environment.   It’s FREE, so bring the kids and join us for a morning of educational fun!
